Abstract

This study explores the impact and efficacy of an asynchronous e-learning module introducing the Kanban method as a tool for project management, coordination, and team collaboration among the staff of a small nature school. The primary research questions focus on the learners'knowledge acquisition of the Kanban method and their perceived effectiveness of the module.

Additionally, the study explores whether the asynchronous format can provide transferable knowledge and skills that positively influence coordination and collaboration within teams.

Quantitative data were collected using a pre/post quiz to assess knowledge acquisition and an exit survey to gather participant feedback. The ten participants from the staff team engaged in the e-learning module. Employing a Design-Based Research (DBR) methodology, the study reveals the need for further iterations due to its limitations. Participants reported a valuable experience with improved understanding and interest in the Kanban method, and the data analysis showed a moderate effect size for knowledge acquisition but lacked statistical significance, likely due to the limited sample size.
